OPM in Pictures #1
by Los
One thing I love about spreadable video online like Youtube [shout out to Bud Caddell] is that it’s a great way to discover music, and by virtue of the format, see the songsmiths behind it. It’s just as much an aural treat as it is visual. And you know how it works – you end up jumping from one clip to another, copy-pasting URLs and embed codes on Facebook pages, blogs and tweet-friendly link shorteners. It isn’t too far-fetched a notion to think that perhaps some of the bigger acts today or many of those rising got their first break from something they shot, whether or a full-on production or just a captured performance, maybe even a picture montage with lyrics. I personally think that the power of a small AV experience can catapult an obscure artist, at the very least to getting an extra couple thousand pairs of ears locking in to their craft. We’re probably doing it right now. That being said, every now and then I’m gonna be slapping a set of OPM videos on a post, all in the spirit of spreading good stuff. They aren’t necessarily new; Sari-Sari loves old stuff, particularly ones that we might have missed. So watch and listen.
For this first one, here are some videos directed by Gino Jose. Enjoy!
